Changing the water in a hot tub

1. remove the filter

When you change the water in your hot tub, start by removing the filter from the tub. Once you've removed the filter, take the opportunity to clean it properly with filter cleaner.

2. clean the pipework

Once the filter is removed, clean the spa's pipework before draining the water. This is done by adding Pipe Cleaner or Biofilm Cleaner to the bath water and running the massage pumps. Remember to open all the nozzles so that the water can flow through all the hoses in the bath.

Once the hoses are cleaned, it is time to drain the water from the bath. There are several different ways to drain the bath. Most baths have a drainage hose at the bottom. If the bath is built in so you cannot access this or if the bath does not have one, you can use a regular hose and siphon the effect, or you take a submersible pump and pump out the water.

Where to discharge the water is a question that many people consider. In general, it is best to discharge it on the lawn. It should not be discharged into the sewer or storm water. Preferably, do not add disinfectant to the bath in the days before the water change so that fewer chemicals are flushed out.

Most plumbing cleaners tell you to fill up the bath one more time and drain the water again. We at Kuben think this is a waste of water. If it has been a very long time since you cleaned the pipework, you can do this step otherwise it is enough to put the hose against the nozzles and flush the hoses a little in this way.

3. clean the bath

When the bath is empty, it is good to take the opportunity to clean the tub properly. Clean it with SpaClean Spray; if you have stains that are difficult to remove, use Cleansing Cream.

4. treat the vessel

If the acrylic starts to look a little tired and worn, or if you just want to give it a protective finish, treat it with Beauty Polish.

5. Fill up the bath

Now it's time to fill the bath again. The best way to do this is to put the hose into the filter container, thus minimising the risk of air pockets in the circulation system.

6. Cleaning the exterior and lid

As well as cleaning the inside of the bath, it is good to clean the outside and take care of the lid. A lid that is taken care of looks fresher and lasts longer.

The cabinet is most effectively cleaned with Cabinet cleaner from Aqua Excellent.

The cover is effectively taken care of with the CoverCare Box. It contains both cleaning and impregnation as well as a sponge and cloth to do the job.

7. Balance the water

When the bath is filled with water again, you need to start by checking the balance of the water. That is, the alka value and pH value and adjust them if necessary.

Once the water is in balance, it's time to add disinfectant, starting by shocking the water.

If you have very calcareous or iron-rich water, you may need to add agents to counteract this.
